Deputy Governor Odey Officially Unveils Inside Cross River News Magazine 

The official unveiling of Inside Cross River News Magazine was held at the Home Restaurant, Marian Road Calabar on Thursday 18th July, 2024. It was a gathering of government functionaries, Captains of industry, leaders of thought and gentlemen of the press. In his welcome address the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief Amb Kanjal Awam stated that "what transformed into the tabloid called Inside Cross River News Magazine went through painstaking incubation, he said "INSIDE CROSS RIVER NEWS MAGAZINE is an incisive, informative and detailed news tabloid. The birth of our magazine didn't just herald, it is a child of necessity, a multi-sectoral synergy that seeks to spotlight Cross River State. In line with our broad vision to partner with the Cross River State Government and drive the needed mileage. Our Think Cross River......Invest in Cross River State is a strategic partnership to market the Cross River Brand and make it a one-stop-destination for investors".


Clad in alluring euphoria, guests who graced the event were former Chairman Civil Service Commission, Dr Julius Okputu represented by Hon Tony Edung Ogon, Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor Barr Fred Abua, Head of Protocol to the Deputy Governor Mr Modey Ugbuji, Special Adviser to the Governor on Digital Economy Mr Philip Obin, Special Assistant to the Governor on Entertainment North Mr Terem Igbodor, Head Research, Planning & Strategy of Inside Cross River News Mr Justin Ilefa, Editor Oti Joe Ashia, Head of Hospitality Bureau Ikori Hispanola Agom, Mr Lawrence Ebor, Award winning OAP Ms Thelma Plethora Benson.

Performing the official unveiling of the magazine, the Deputy Governor of Cross River State who was represented by his Press Secretary Barr Fred Abua, commended the Publisher for his lofty initiative. He said that the launch of Inside Cross River News Magazine is very timely. Your partnership to market the Cross River Brand is a good initiative. He urged newsmen to always fact check to save the State from bad image. He said His Excellency is very impressed with young men who are ready to promote the State at a time when journalists find pleasure in demarketing the State. 

In his separate remarks the Special Adviser to the Governor on Digital Economy Mr Philip Obin and former Technical Adviser to then Vice President Yemi Osinbanjo, commended the Publisher for his courage and tenacity, he charged young entrepreneurs to take up the challenge and break even in their various fields of endeavor. He noted that in a State like Cross River which is under-reported, getting first hand news you have to be in Calabar. With such a trend in this 21st century there's the likelihood of being disconnected from happenings in the State and around the world. Because there is no platform that reports and promotes the State widely.

Also in his goodwill message, the former Chairman, Cross River State Civil Service Commission, Dr Ochim Julius Okputu, who was represented by Mr Ogon Anthony-Edung, congratulated the publisher for this milestone achievement.

The event climaxed with a vote of thanks from Mr Justin Ilefa Head Research, Planning & Strategy of Inside Cross River News. He thanked His Excellency Rt Hon Peter Odey PhD for inclusivity of youths and empowering young men in every given opportunity. He reiterated that the youths will continue to support him to move the State forward.
