Cross River Govt distributes palliatives to needy, vulnerable By Emma Una CALABAR- THE Cross River State Government on Thursday began the distribution of palliatives to the needy and vulnerable across the state. Mrs Bkessing Egbara, the Commissioner for Humanitarian and Social Welfare who who flagged off the exercise visited several orphanages, foster homes and elderly peoples homes to hand in the palliatives on behalf of the state government. The items distributed include bags of rice, garri,  cartons of noodles, toiletries, sanitizers, facemasks,  and cash to stem the harsh effect of the lockdown on the poor and vulnerable. "To cushion the effect of the lockdown, we are going round to visit those who are very dear to our hearts in line with the vision of His Excellency, Senator ,Professor Ben Ayade the Governor of the state who is our father. COVID 19: Cross River State Government distributes palliatives to social institutions in the state, restates Government's commitment to the welfare of the citizens including the vulnerable By Eriacy Confidence Ewona Marywhite Following the outbreak of the dreaded corona virus pandemic in the world and the attendant socio- economic hardship, the Cross River State Government through the Ministry of Humanity and Social Welfare has distributed palliatives to all social institutions in the state. The Commissioner for Humanity and Social Welfare, Mrs Blessing Egbara who visited  orphanages and old people homes yesterday in Calabar South, Calabar municipal and Akpabuyo LGAs of the state accompanied by the director of social works and other staff of the ministry restated Governor Ben Ayade's commitment to the welfare of all the citizens in the state including the vulnerable by way of deliberate support and provision of relief materials to cushion the effect of the hardship

After all necessary consultations and considerations, including advice from medical experts, the Abia State Government wishes to announce relaxation protocols with regard to the ongoing lockdown in the state as necessitated by COVID-19 outbreak in the country, as follows: 1. All markets in the state shall open only 3 times a week viz: Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 9am to 3pm daily. Relevant markets leadership have constituted a 17-man Enforcement Team that shall ensure provision of a minimum of 20 litres bucket with tap for running water, in addition to soap and sanitizers by each trader, and the wearing of face masks by both sellers and buyers in the market.
