Sports Minister Sets up Urgent Meeting with Club Owners, Referees Before Commencement of NPFL As matters continue to arise from the snub of Nigerian match officials for AFCON 2023 duties, the Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh has called for an urgent engagement with the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) club owners and referees. The minister requested to personally meet with these group of stakeholders before the commencement of the new elite league season, so as to communicate officially with them. Sports Minister to Meet with NFF, Referees’ Association, Others, Over Non-inclusion of Nigerian Officials for AFCON 2023 The Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh has expressed his displeasure over the non-inclusion of Nigerian officials amongst the match officials listed for the 2023 African Cup of Nations, holding in Cote D’Ivoire next year. C'River Govt Rehabilitates Former Athlete, Ironbar Bassey The Cross River State government through its Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs in collaboration with the 10th State House of Assembly, has rehabilitated a former athlete, Bassey Etim Ironbar. Ironbar, a 1981 Nigerian Sports Festival Gold medalist, was said to have been living in extreme poverty in the streets of Lagos before he was discovered by the team on 8th September.
