Obubra/Izzi Crisis: See residents of the community ravaged by the war

 The present state of the people of Idoru Ogumor community of Obubra LGA  has been described as not only horrible  but disastrous as the war between the Obubra people of Cross River State and the Izzi people of Ebonyi state completely ravaged the community and displaced thousands of residents.  Speaking to Coneri Magazine in Calabar,  president of Mbembe People's Assembly, Hon. King Omenyi who visited the community yesterday to ascertained the level of destruction said the situation is horrible and that the  war has brought total hardship to the residents of the community. Actor's Guild: Cross River State chapter holds end of Year meeting, celebrate achievements of the Jo Esse Led Exco

The Cross River State chapter of the Actor's Guild of Nigeria AGN held her last general meeting of the Year 2019 on the 28th of November at the  Cultural Center complex, Calabar.  The meeting which started by 4PM began with  opening prayer by comr. Starro  Eno the PRO ended in a grand style. The Secretary  Comr Ekpedeme Moses through the Executive read out the agenda of the meeting  and was duly adopted by the house. He however thanked members for their unalloyed support in 2019, as they contributed positively to the  success story recorded by the Jo Esse led administration. Nigeria Launches National Register for sexual Offenders

Nigeria has launched its first national sexual offenders register, setting up a database of those convicted for sexual violence in a move seen as an important step towards clamping down on abuse. The sexual offenders register will contain names of all those prosecuted for sexual violence since 2013 Nigerian women are sexually abused before they turn 18, with the majority of cases of sexual abuse in country are not prosecuted, according to the United Nations children agency UNICEF.  At Monday's launch in the capital, Abuja, Sadiya Farouq, minister for humanitarian affairs, said "the register will serve as a strategy to stop those engaged in violence against women". She added that a humanitarian and security crisis in northeast Nigeria caused by a decade-long armed campaign had seen a rise in cases of sexual abuse which needed to be addressed.  The register will be available online to better help the ...

Gov Ben Ayade to swear in Justice Akon Ikpeme as new Acting Chief Judge tomorrow

The Cross River State Governor, His Excellency Sir Ben Ayade will tomorrow, Tuesday, December 3rd, 2019, swear in Justice Akon Ikpeme as the acting Chief Judge of the state. Carnival Calabar 2019: Gov. Ben Ayade Declares 2nd Dec Public Holiday in Cross River State

In exercise of the powers conferred on the Governor to declare any day as public holiday by virtue of S. 2 (1) of the Public Holiday's Act, CAP 378 Laws of the Federation 1979 (As Amended), the Governor, Sir Ben Ayade has declared today 2nd Dec. 2019, as public holiday in Cross River State. This declaration is consistent with the well established culture since 1999 of work free month from 1st Dec. to 31st Dec. to usher in the annual Carnival Calabar celebration.
