"DECLARATION OF MY INTEREST TO RUN FOR THE POSITION OF OBUBRA LGA COUNCIL CHAIRMAN*
My great people of Obubra LGA and Mbembe in general, after the unexpected pronouncement from the office of the State Governor to conduct the local Government election, I, King Sylvester Omenyi, from Ofumbongha Yala Ward in Obubra LGA hereby declare that I will be running for the office of Chairman of Obubra local Government Council.
My great people, there is need for a brand new style of leadership in our great Local Government Area.
We all know that there would be a crowded field with many Aspirants who would metamorphose into Candidates of various political parties looking for a way to connect with voters to win the election. The question is "what should be the voters duty?" Is it for you to make a decision that will move Obubra forward or not?
The neatness of the partisan method of selecting the ward to represent us as Chairman of Council so far in the past years have been remarkable.
Ofumbongha Yala ward has never been given the opportunity to represent Obubra as Chairman of Council since the inception of this political dispensation.
I believe and trust God that Ofumbongha Yala Ward will be considered this time.
Our Local Government Area is in serious trouble; we don't smile anymore. To end this, we need a strong servant that can take our concerns to the State, Federal, International and private sector for a solution. And I make bold to say King OMENYI can do this for the 11 wards.
When considering all these, another question that comes to our minds is "when was the last time anyone of you saw Obubra leading in anything as a Local Government? Other Lo7cal Government are laughing at us, they see us as empty drum that makes the loudest noise, just the same way someone once addressed us as "ineffective majority."
This is the time to end all these, King OMENYI can end it.
Disunity is eating up large portion of Obubra Local Government Area as many are using this as an opportunity to become rich at the detriment of the masses, King OMENYI will end this by bringing Obubra together as one big family and a people who love one another irrespective of party affiliation or tribal difference.
Obubra gross domestic product has been very low recently. This is because of lack of buyers. What about our children who go to school with difficulty all because parents who are farmers can no longer sell farm products to train children.
This is the time to increase our products and seek for market for our products. King OMENYI can do it.
Many of our primary schools have failed to produce children with the abilities to read and write upon graduation from primary school, we need a "no child should be left behind in reading and writing skills in primary schools," King OMENYI can change this.
There is no society without good health care that can be a great society. Our primary health care system is not giving us primary care enough, we do not have to travel more than 5 kilometers to receive primary care. King OMENYI can change this.
I am not running to be a Chairman of Council for myself, but for my people.
Whenever we are given the opportunity to air out our manifesto, I will be glad to tell the public what I can do as a Chairman if given the opportunity to work for you as your servant at the local level...

Recall that the Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Ben Ayade recently declared that the Local Government council polls will hold in February 2020.
