A prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ward One, Aniocha South Local Government and mother of star actress, Regina Daniels Nwoko, Rita Daniels has tendered her resignation from the party. The resignation, effective immediately, was submitted on February 2, 2025.
According to the actress and producer, her decision to leave the party stems from inconsistencies in the PDP's administration and its deviation from democratic principles and inclusivity. She expressed concerns that the party's actions contradict its founding ideals, undermining democratic processes and fair governance.
Hon. Daniels, a well-known actress, filmmaker, and politician, had been an active member of the PDP. Her resignation is seen as a significant blow to the party in Ward One, Aniocha South Local Government.
The text reads:
"Letter of Resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ward one, Aniocha south local government.
I, Hon. Rita Daniels, this day, 2nd of February, 2025 tender my letter of resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) due to inconsistencies in the party's administration and a deviation from its stated commitment to democratic principles and inclusivity. It's my belief that the party's actions contradict its founding ideals.
The PDP's constitution, which states that the party's commitment to democracy, good governance, human rights, justice, equity, and inclusivity are being flaunted and at will, without consideration of its membership. All these actions have undermined democratic processes and fair governance, hence my resignation.
