In a bid to drive human capital growth, the government of Cross River State, has expressed willingness to partner Nigerian apex regulatory Human Resource body, the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, in developing, enhancing and maintaining high standards of administrative human resource competence in the Cross River formal sector.

The Head of Service, Mr. Timothy Ogbang Akwaji, made this known while delivering a keynote address on the occasion of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management's 40th Anniversary/4th Branch Conference, held on Thursday, 21st July, 2022, at Transcorp Hotels, Calabar.

Mr. Akwaji assured that in line with best professional standards, the government will partner the Institute in the areas of training and workshops for administrative professionals in the civil service with special reference to Permanent Secretaries and Directors of Administration, adding that he has implored them to get registered as Personnel Management/Human Resource Practitioners of the CIPM.

Harping on the aptness of the event,  "Building Skills-Building People: For Sustainability", Mr. Akwaji said In the 21st century, premium should not only be placed on machinery and other factors of production, but on the human resource factor, which he described as the engine room that drives progress and development in any organizational setting, whether formal or informal.

Congratulating the CIPM Cross River State on her 40th Anniversary celebration, the Head of Service, encouraged the Branch to continually think outside the box in order to profer solutions that would help organizations to break fallow grounds in administration, Personnel Management and development to the advantage of the CIPM.

Empowered by legislation (Act 58 of 1992), the CIPM determines what standards of knowledge and skills are required to become registered as personnel management/HR practitioners.
