IPMAN Leadership Crisis: Zonal Chair, Larry Nworu Engages C'River Petroleum Marketers, Endorses Peter Okim Abang As Authentic Chairman of Calabar Unit

Leads IPMAN Leadership On A Courtesy Call To Chief of Staff to Governor Otu, NMDPRA, AIG, Others, Urges Members To Work Together To Restore Peace And Unity In The Association

The leadership crisis rocking the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) in Cross River State has taken a new turn as the system 2E Zonal Chairman, Chief Lawrence Nworu, has endorsed Peter Okim Abang as the authentic Chairman of the Calabar Unit.

Chief Nworu made the endorsement during a meeting with petroleum marketers in Calabar, where he urged members to work together to restore peace and unity in the association. The zonal heard also advised members to work with the recognized executives led by Abang and seek collaboration with relevant bodies for the smooth operations of the unit.

The Zonal Chairman also led the IPMAN leadership on a courtesy call to the Chief of Staff to the Cross River State Governor, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar, the new Regional Coordinator of Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Mrs. Comfort Ajayi, and the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 6, among others.

During the courtesy calls, Chief Nworu stressed the need for peace among members of IPMAN and collaboration between the association, the government and other relevant bodies, emphasizing that the current crisis was affecting the smooth operation of the petroleum industry in the state.

He assured that the leadership of IPMAN was committed to resolving the crisis and ensuring that the association returns to its former glory.

In his response, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Emmanuel Ironbar, welcomed them warmly, while commending the IPMAN leadership for their efforts in resolving the crisis. Hon. Ironbar urged them to continue working together to achieve peace and unity in the association. He described the unit chairman, Peter Okim as a well-known figure in the state with the experience and capacity to pilot the affairs of the association and expressed willingness and readiness to work with him.

On her part, the new Regional Coordinator of NMDPRA, Mrs. Comfort Ajayi, praised the IPMAN leadership for their efforts to resolve the crisis and assured of her support in ensuring the smooth operation of the petroleum industry in the state. She sued for peace in the association and promised to look into their demands, which include appeals for increment in products allocation to the state for the fact that it has over 36 tank farm, reduction in the renewal of PMAN licenses as the increment will have adverse effects on members as well call for increment in the prices of petroleum products in private depots. Ajayi revealed that the increment in renewal licenses is already being looked into at the headquarters, stressing that the system is deregulated and that private depots can sell at their discretion. She further urged the association to put themselves forward for a seamless operation in the petroleum sector. 

Similarly, the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 6, also urged the IPMAN leadership to continue to work in unison to achieve peace and progress in the association.
