Brotherhood of The Cross and Star Presents Distinguished Service Award to Dr Helen Isamoh-Egodo 


Cross River Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Helen Isamoh-Egodo has  received a delegation of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS) in her office.

The delegation which primarily serves as the humanitarian informed the Commissioner that they have been involved in various outreach programs such as an annual medical outreach to Biakpan which they do every December 1st. They said they also visit orphanages, old peoples homes, the prisons, as well as medical outreach at Watts market and environs.

They reminded the Commissioner that during their last visit to her office she had shown interest in partnering with them to provide boreholes in some rural communities, and they expressed the hope that the expected partnership was still on. 

On behalf of the BCS, the delegation presented Dr. Isamoh-Egodo with a Distinguished Service Award to honour her various services to the State since her appointment. 

The Honourable Commissioner thanked the delegates for visiting her and appreciated the award presented to her. She commended the BCS on their diverse humanitarian work.

"There is no doubt that BCS had infiltrated most communities in the State in pursuit of their goal of making the lives of people better. I have confidence that the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, would make the 'People First Mantra" of Senator Otu's administration, a practical reality among vulnerable Nigerians".


While noting that leading such a significant ministry like this requires resilience, empathy and deep understanding of the challenges faced by the population in the country, Dr Egodo pledged her full commitment to the course of her mandate


Earlier, the delegation lauded the Hon Commissioner on the successes achieved so far, adding that there is no doubt that the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs is one of the most important ministry as it directly assists in uplifting poor and vulnerable out of poverty. The delegation commended  her on the magnificent work she has been doing to promote the welfare of Cross Riverians.
