Hope Ability Empowerment Initiative Honours C'River Commissioner For Humanitarian Affairs, Helen Egodo With Award Of Excellence For Advocacy 

One of man's glorious tasks, according to Sophocles, is "to be doing good deeds", and doing good certainly remains a universal vision. This has been the task of the Honourable Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Dr (Mrs) Helen Isamoh Egodo even before her assumption of duty as Commissioner, and hence, was yesterday 16th May, 2024, honoured with an Award of Excellence by the Hope Ability Empowerment Initiative (HAEI) for her remarkable advocacy which has significantly advanced inclusivity and empowerment among vulnerable individuals, and commitment to improving the lives of people with disabilities in Cross River State.

This award, according to the Chief Executive Officer of HAEI Dr Mrs Martina Ongbonya Ntino,  who presented the award on behalf of HAEI, was in recognition of the pivotal roles played by the Honourable Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation in shaping policies that have impact on the lives of people with special needs and the vulnerable individuals in our State. It was, also, according to Dr Ntino, in acknowledgement of Dr Helen Egodo's exceptional performance, achievements, and contributions towards ameliorating the living standards of all Cross Riverians.

It could be recalled that the Honourable Commissioner Dr Helen Isamoh Egodo recently delivered food items and other relief materials to Ogoja inmates of the Nigerian Correctional Service, made an on the spot Assessment Visit and provided food items and relief materials to internally displaced persons who fled the 5th December, 2023 Cameronian Amazonian Attack in Balegete,  Obanliku Local Government Area as well as an Assessment Visit to  victims of fire disaster in Bebuabong Community in Obudu Local Government Area.

In her remarks, Dr Helen Isamoh Egodo, while dedicating the award to staff of her ministry, thanked members of the Hope Ability Empowerment Initiative  for following the activities of her ministry and honouring her with an Award of Excellence. She attributed her achievements to the continuous support of His Excellency Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, his yearning for a better life for all Cross Riverians, and eagerness to deliver on the People's First agenda. The Honourable Commissioner promised to do more for crises-affected communities, and vigorously pursue disaster management  and social development.
