Earlier today, the Chairman Elect for Obubra LGA *Dr. Bassey Agara Tom* accompanied by political appointees, and some patriotic Obubra people moved the boat to Crosiec office Calabar to receive the certificate of return as the winner of the may, 30th Chairmanship elections conducted by _Cross River State Independent Electorial Comission_ (Crosiec) which was a fulfilment of the stipulations of electoral act of the revised 1999 constitution.

In an address, the Chairman of the Cross River State Independent Electorial Comission (Crosiec) Dr. Mike Ushie in the commission headquarters in calabar expressed his gratitude to the project manager of Cross River State Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade for his effort to ensure a conducive atmosphere in the state for the conduct of the Elections. Dr. Mike Ushie also extended his heartfelt gratitude to Crossriverians for their good conduct, compliance and cooperation given to Crosiec that ensured the conduct of  successful elections across the 18 LGAs in the state. He further expressed his satisfaction in the Saturday may 30th election which he described as free  and fair.

In an interview with the local press in Calabar, the Chairman Elect for Obubra LGA
 Dr. Bassey Agara Tom assured the people of Obubra "good governance".
 Dr. Bassey Agara told press men that he will run an inclusive Government considering no political variation, tribe or religion. He further assured press men that his administration will promote peace, and guarantee high level security in Obubra L.G.A. The Chairman Elect also assured press men that his administration will not only sustain existing politicians in Obubra but it will also serve as a stepping stone for young people to start up their life foundation in different careers.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of certificate of return to the 18 LGA chairmen.
