C'River Commissioner For Humanitarian Affairs And Poverty Alleviation Visits The United Nations High Commissioner For Refugees

As part of the mandate of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation to effectively coordinate humanitarian interventions in the state, the Honorable Commissioner Dr. Mrs Helen Agan Isamoh-Egodo paid an unscheduled visit to the UNHCR Ogoja office on Friday November 24, 2023 to be abreast of the programs and activities of the UN agency.

During the visit, she met with the Head of Sub Office, Mrs. Irene Omoni, and the Public Health Officer, Dr. Ernest Ochang. Mrs. Irene appreciated the Commissioner for her visit and her unwavering commitment to assisting refugees, displaced persons and the vulnerable population in the state. She also briefed the Commissioner of all the various activities the agency has been implementing in the state. To further furnish the Commissioner with detailed report of ongoing activities as well as plans for 2024, the Head of Sub Office pledged to visit the Commissioner in her office in Calabar within the first week of December 2023. 

In her response, the Commissioner appreciated the effort of UNHCR in providing succor to the Cameroonian Refugees as well as the Host Community members across the intervention locations. She further charged the agency to henceforth, carry the ministry along in all her programs and activities to ensure adequate monitoring and supervision by the ministry.
