Stakeholders Of The National Home Grown School Feeding Programme Interface With The Commissioner For Humanitarian Affairs

Stakeholders of the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme in Cross River State, on Monday met with the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Mrs Helen Isamoh-Egodo PhD, to discuss ways to improve the programme and achieve desired results. The meeting involved the Programme Manager for the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme, Cross River State Office Pastor Joseph Etim, the Agricultural Officer from the Ministry of Agriculture, MaryAnn Moji Ogar, and the Programme Manager for foodstuffs inspection services from the Ministry of Health, Pastor Ita Effanga.

Speaking, Pastor Joseph Etim raised concerns over a certain lady parading herself as the programme manager, urging the public to disregard the imposter as he remains the authentic manager of the NHGSFP in Cross River State. He went on to address concerns raised about the sales of forms, notifying the public that the forms are absolutely free. He called for greater synergy between the ministry of humanitarian affairs and the ministries of Agriculture and Health

On his part, the Programme Manager for foodstuffs inspection services from the Ministry of Health, Pastor Effanga expressed disappointment over the use of other facilities instead of the state ministry of health for the programme. He said that the programme has the potentials of generating income for Cross River if the state facilities are utilised.

Reacting, the Honourable Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Helen Isamoh-Egodo emphasized the importance of transparency in the programme to address any issues or obstacles hindering its success. Dr. Egodo stressed the need for stakeholders to streamline resources and set a realistic goal to achieve the desired results, urging the stakeholders to form a committee consisting of representatives from the three ministries to ensure better collaboration and coordination.

The commissioner maintained that the committee was necessary as it would provide stakeholders with the opportunity to work towards improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the programme in Cross River State.

Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs,
