Some Nigerian cities are fast becoming uninhabitable for the low income earners because of the cost of living. It will shock you to find out our list of five most expensive cities in Nigeria in 2017
1. Abuja
Abuja being the capital of the most populous black nation in the world is unarguably the most expensive city in Nigeria with the high influx of people from within and outside the country. Life in this city is unbeatably and unaffordable for the low income earners. The poor who come to Abuja are made to spend under bridges and abandoned buildings. On the other hand, this is where the big money spenders reside.
2. Calabar
I used to believe that after Abuja, the next most expensive city in the country is Lagos, but my belief changed when I visited that beautiful acient city recently. As you may be aware calabar used to be the capital of Nigeria before it was moved to Lagos. A normal flat in calabar is most expensive than Lagos. As at time I visited the city, a drop was one hundred naira and many other things.
3. Lagos
Lagos is the former capital of Nigeria and the present commercial hub of the country in the manner of New York city in the US. It is by fact and figure the largest and most populated city in the country. Life here is largely unpredictable and expensive. Yet most things here are affordable and manageable. The city is divided into two equal groups, the poor and the rich with the poor living in slums and odd places. Lagos is also the richest city in west Africa
4. Port Harcourt
To many that know this garden city, life is pretty expensive. Most people equate life in this city to Lagos and calabar yet is is the second richest city in Nigeria. The cost of a single room in pH is for two rooms in Enugu and Onitsha.
5. Onitsha
Onitsha used to be the commercial capital of Nigeria before Lagos took over. Life in the business city is grossly unaffordable for the poor. Survival in this city is predominantly a guess work.
