 Investing More In Our Children

.....By Eriacy Confidence.

The chief executive officer of Coneri Media, a movie producer and publisher, Mr. Eriacy Confidence has educated Nigerians that,

"It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.” Fredrick Douglass

No doubt, majority of us admit that children are an asset and form a significant part of the society's fortunes. And even though, several organizations and individuals have over the years showed interest in empowering these folks, not very much has been done to adequately develop and preserve this asset.

Nelson Mandela said "There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children.” As adults, in our various capacities, we should be ready and willing to support our children and contribute to the emergence of a new generation that prioritises education, freedom and development.

In my little corner, I supplied a few copies of my book" Breakthrough Reading and Writing Skills Manual" a revolutionary phonics textbook intended to sharpen our children's reading, writing and speaking skills to a nursery and primary school in Awka, the Anambra State capital. This little gesture is intended to encourage our children to be more committed to the ideals of education as in the words of Nelson Mandela said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

We all admit that English is a borrowed language and to attain mastery of this foreign language, the points raised in the book must be given significant attention. This is the reason the book is essential, especially for our children as it is necessary to catch them young and give them a solid foundation to be able to compete favourably with their counterparts in other climes as English continues to be the most widely spoken language in the world.

This brings me to the main purpose of this write up. Our present age has to a reasonable extent deserted the very subject of our future relevance and continuity and instead have focused their literary exploration on adult themes. We may have ignored the fact that, even though we were born before them and may be more economically viable than them, our children are more significant than we in the sense that, while we are a product of yesterday and today, they are the product of tomorrow; For us to have a saner, more definite and more productive future, we must make children the subject of our thoughts and their Development the object of our actions.

We must not forget we were what they are now and may never be what they will be in the future.

Let's invest more in our children and raise great leaders for the future.

Happy children's Day to my unborn Children, Yummy and Champsy
