Actors Guild: Cross River State chapter holds monthly Meeting, sets to end Actors' molestations in Nollywood

The Actors' Guild of Nigeria, Cross River State chapter on the 25th day of July 2019 joined her counterparts in other states to observe their monthly General Meeting. The meeting which began at exactly 4PM  (Nigerian Time) with an opening prayer by Apostle Iya Orok, former AGNEC Chairman at the cultural Centre, Calabar,  was well attended by members despite threats by whether to keep some indoors. 

The chairman of the chapter, Amb. Jo Esse, who spoke over thirty minutes on the plight of members in the hands of filmmakers, revealed the guild's plans to end all forms of molestations of actors in the industry. He said the President, Amb. Emeka Rollas and his AGN led National Executive recently designed contract forms for actors to fill before appearing on set. He further stated that his   administration will ensure members adhere strictly to it.  He also revealed that plans are on ground to mark one Year in office of the Jo Esse's led State Executive of the guild.

On his part, the Secretary of the CRS Chapter of the guild, Comr. Moses Ekpedeme brought to the know of members of plans to conduct the guild's National Elections. He also reminded members of the Central Bank's loan scheme for the creative industry, urging members to take advantage of the Government's  gesture to rescue the industry. He further stressed that Cross River State membership list is ready and  members should please contact the  Secretariat for confirmation.

In his speech, Lagos based Filmmaker and CEO of Coneri Media, Comr. Eriacy Confidence Oba while commending the Chairman Comr. Jo Esse and his state Executive for their strong resolve in keeping the guild united and peaceful
amidst visible distractions from anti guild elements called
on the chapter to set up a  committee to raise funds for the guild in the state. He said this would reduce the burden on members of the State Executive who have rather been spending from their personal pockets to keep the guild running.

Highlight of the meeting was the presentation of Identity Cards/ Awards/Appointment letters and certificates to members who have been instrumental to the return of peace and unity to the guild in the state. Amongst those honoured for their contributions to the guild were : Apst Iya Orok, Former AGNEC Chairman and Comr Eriacy Confidence Oba, Former zonal Secretary for Cross River State Central and CEO of Coneri Media. Apostle Orok, apart from receiving a certificate of Award of Honor for his role in stabilizing the guild in the state was also appointed Member, AGN CRS Executive Stakeholders and Chairman, Advisory Board.  Comr Eriacy on the other hand was appointed head of Media, Actors Guild of Nigeria, Cross River State chapter. Also, Coneri Magazine, one of the foremost promoter of the guild was made Official Media of the guild.
Receiving the Awards and appointment letters, the Chairman, Amb. Jo Esse urged them to use their offices to advance the welfare of the guild.

The meeting was attended by stakeholders of the guild including Personal Secretary to Former Governor Liyel Imoke (Deac Mrs Beatrice Akonjom),  AGNEC Chairman of the guild (Apst Iya Orok), CEO of Coneri Magazine, Comr. Eriacy Confidence, the state Chairman (Amb Jo Esse and members of his Executive and other stakeholders of the guild.
