Although, Obubra is one of the oldest, largest and most populated Local Government Area in Cross River State, it is however the poorest, the least secure and the least developed LGA in the state  according Coneri Magazine 2019 rating.  Obubra is top in Coneri Magazine list of the least developed LGAs in the state sharing the same position with Bekwara and Obanliku. The insecurity, poverty and under development of the Area can be linked to her endless and unnecessary rivalry amongst leaders and fight for supremacy and other not so significant things, coupled with the citizens' selfish dispositions to life and poverty.

But the recent joint reception at Marian Hotel by Hon Peter Egba, Cross River Commssioner for Industry and his counterpart, Mrs Blessing Otobha Egbara the honourable commissioner for humanity and social welfare as celebration for their appointments by Gov Ben Ayade  has proven to be a deviation from that tradition. Their cooperation seems  to project a new and brighter future for Obubra.

The joint reception to an extent, means the complete return of unity and cooperation to Obubra  which was lost to selfishness and individualism several years ago. It is believed that  Obubra leaders have learned their lessons and have launched deliberate steps to redeem the LGA from the insecurity under development and poverty caused by disunity and selfishness.

There's no gain stating the fact that development and growth can only be possible in a peaceful, united and selfless society. This the measure, our own brand new Obubra Commissioners and others have taken. And if this spirit of unity and cooperation is maintained, Obubra will bounce back to her original glory in the nearest future.

May the steps they have taken not be sabotaged by the enemies of Obubra.
