The House Committee on Public Petitions, under the leadership of Rt. Hon. The petition, filed by M. C. Chambers against EEDC, TCN, and NERC, emphasized the challenges faced by the residents of Mbaise due to the lack of electricity supply and unfair billing practices,  calling for the completion of the Transmission Station in Aboh Mbaise and Umueleagwa Onitcha to improve electricity supply in the area. The petition also demands that all buildings in Mbaise Communities be metered to ensure accurate billing and fair payment for electricity consumption.

In a statement during the committee's investigative hearing on Thursday, 21st February 2024, the Chairman, Rt. Hon. Mike Etaba revealed that the visit is scheduled for 15th to 17th March 2024. Etaba used the medium to reiterate his commitment to ensuring justice and fairness for all Nigerians. He maintained that as a committee, they would take proactive steps to address the grievances of citizens and hold relevant authorities accountable for their actions.

The member representing the good people of Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency asserted that the Public Petitions Committee would continue to serve as a platform for citizens to voice their concerns and challenge government policies and actions that are detrimental to the well-being of the people, insisting that the Committee's mandate is to promote democracy, transparency, and accountability in governance.

He therefore urged residents of Mbaise to prepare to receive the Committee members during the visit and provide valuable insights and information to support the investigation as it is an opportunity for the people to get justice and their demands met.
