REASONS WHY NIGERIA CANNOT BREAK UP

Rumors of break up loom in the air. The northern youths coalition have given the Igbo race of south eastern Nigeria an ultimatum to leave their region before October first this year. The Niger Delta Youths in a reaction have also given all the northern businessmen in their region, especially the oil well owners to vacate before 2018. In a similar manner, the Oduduwa, the middle belta and other regions are agitating for self determination. In all these, you will conclude that Nigeria will break up sooner than expected but it will shock you to find out some convincing reasons why Nigeria cannot break up even in the next two hundred years.

Nigeria is divided against the opinion of break up: The country is divided into two equal halves on the argument for break up. Even among the heavily deprived Igbo of the south east, majority argue in favor of remaining in Nigeria. The Igbo particularly have over four trillion naira in the north and over two trillion naira in Lagos alone. A break up, to some of the Igbo businessmen with huge investment in Nigeria will mean a forfeiture of those hard earned nairas. Besides, other nationalities coexisting with the Igbo are bent on keeping Nigeria united no matter the cost, especially with the recent move to produce an Igbo President in 2019.
Nigeria is one of the largest markets in the world, the largest economy in Africa, the most populous black nation on earth, the most powerful African country, the second largest film industry in the world, the best music industry in Africa, the richest country in the continent and others. Who would want to throw away all these feat in the name of self determination? Even when Nigerians fight for freedom, they are always cautious and conscious of the fact that they cannot never be another Nigeria and for sure if they secede, they won't enjoy the same benefits enjoyed in Nigeria else where.
Nigeria can never break up until every stake holder finds a fault in it. But right now, the hope of a divided Nigeria is still far away because the various stake holders are still divided on the reasons for or against the break up.

Coneri media blog and Coneri magazine interviewed some stakeholders on the 22nd of June 2017 about their views on the purported break up, a greater number of Nigerians are still not convinced why they should leave Nigeria for any other nation or name. Some people from the Niger Delta region believe that a separate state with the Igbo people alone would be worse as they are afraid of being swallowed up by the majority Igbo. In the north, the middle belters believe that a separate state with the Hausa of the north will be worse as the two regions represent two different things: the largely moslem north cannot coexist peacefully with the the christian dorminant middle belt. On the other hand, the Yoruba of the south West suspect the Igbo could be eyeing Lagos in their bid for secession and would want to be on their own. All the arguments are in favor of the unity of Nigeria.
