THREE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS THAT CROSS RIVER STATE HAS LOST OVER THE YEARS

Cross river is one of the 36 States of Nigeria located in the South South geo-,political zone of the country. It is the foremost tourism destination in west Africa and one of the richest States in the continent. But over the years, especially between 1999-2017, the state has lost so many resources that are worth mentioning here.below are three of the most important things the state has lost in the course of time.

1.THE FEDERAL CAPITAL TERRITORY
The present state capital of cross river state, Calabar used to be the federal capital of Nigeria but the state lost it to Lagos, the present commercial capital of the country. Had the federal capital remained in calabar, today cross river state would have been the state boasting of being the commercial nerve centre of the continent. Many cross riverians even believe that calabar would have been more developed than the present Lagos.

2. BAKASSI PENINSULA
The ceding of the oil rich Bakassi  peninsula  to the republic of cameron was another great loss to the state. The oil territory used to be a very great commercial piece to the state until it was hand over officially following the judgment of the international court to the republic of Cameron during President Olusegun Obasenjo administration. Ever since then, the youths of the area have not seized fighting for what they termed their own.

3. THE 56 OIL WELLS
Not too long after the lose of the bakassi  peninsula to Cameron, Akwa Ibom which by definition is a sister or better called a daughter state to cross river snatched over 56 oil wells from the state, following victory from the court. The state until now still does not know how to recover these valuable properties.
