A VERSE ON THE NIGERIAN CIVIL WAR BY ERIACY CONFIDENCE

THE NIGERIAN CIVIL WAR

Oh! The Nigerian civil war

You tore flesh from my nation's skin

By the properties you caused to rod

And the blood you spilled.

My country's three years patronage

Of your vainful, hororful glories

Left her in a merciless bloody state

Making ugly her alluring beauty

You were a brother to brother quarrel

That culminated in a bloody fight.

You plunged our nation into sour tears

And loosened our national ties

Oh! My Nigerian citizen

Your take of arms against your brother

triggered a carnival of hates on the street

Causing your nation cancer

Oh! The Nigerian civil war

I must applaud you greatly

For sight-washing my compatriots

To behold the devil of raising arms for peace

Especially my patriotic Youths

Who lift up arms in ignorance

to pull down what they can't build

instead of clinging to dialogue, Solomon's path

What are you still doing on the trigger

You stakeholders in tribal, religious and communal clashes
Haven't you heard of the war in Nigeria

That left her people in total pieces?

Why go for the soldier man's pen

In solving a gentleman's mathematics

To patronize his Workman's peg

Is to dance on a suicidal pit.
