YALA NEW YAM FESTIVAL: THE PEOPLE OF OBUBRA AND IKOM JOIN THEIR KINSMEN TO MARK 2018 EDITION


The people of Yala Obubra, in Obubra Local Government Area and Yala Ikom in Ikom Local Government Area respectively join  their kinsmen in Yala Local Government Area in celebrating this year's  Yala New Yam Festival.

The festival celebrated on the 30th of August every year represents a significant aspect of the rich cultural heritage of the people of Yala, Cross River State.

To the Yala people of Cross river state, the new yam festival represents the height of their rich cultural heritage and is marked by the various communities of Yala nation found in three Local Government areas of Cross River State.

The people of Yala Obubra (Nkum Okpambe) who used to celebrate the new new yam festival on the 10th Of September decided to join their brothers and sisters in Ikom (Yala Ikom) and Yala Local Government Area (Yala Ogoja)  to mark the 2018 edition as a step towards unity and identity.
