The Rebirth of Obubra, a collective responsibility

It has become expedient that we remind ourselves of the present state of our dear LGA and its impending danger.
It is no longer news that Obubra which is one of the oldest and biggest LG in the state with over ninety communities still has nothing to show as a LGA. Yet it has been consigned to the back seat of political orbit and development of the State and in the country at large. The people have been abased and abused.
We have toured through ill-fated paths over the years as our land has been swerved to a dumpster.
No one to speak for the Obubra man as we incautiously allow external maladroits to swing us to a state of directionlessness. This has eaten deep into the fibres of our nationhood.

It is pugnacious that since the death of late _Chief John Oyom Okpa,_ Obubra has been hovering within the circumference of pestiferousness which can only be eschewed by the unity of the people.  This does not deserve any form of incautious attention as it affects the growth of our land.
What about _Dr. Joseph Ubugha Eyaba_ of blessed memory whom both the big and small still give accolade even in death. Obubra LG needs their likes. But today, where are the _Okpas_ that can speak for Obubra? Where are the _Eyabas_ that will listen to the cry of the people.

In the developmental hue, it has become crystal clear that Obubra has been sapped and left with nothing intriguing. Apart from the tarred road leading to the LG Headquarters, Obubra has no proudful road let alone electricity which the urban cannot boast of a total of 24 hours (one day) power supply in the entire month.

Some of our schools facilities have become moribunds at the detriment of the students/pupils who have no conducive environment to learn. A practical example is the Primary school where the _Chairman-to-be of Obubra, Dr. Bassey Agara Tom_ visited in one of his consultations at Ogambang where the children of that community seat under the sun to learn. Then with pain in my heart, I asked myself if there is no leader to address such an important issue that has become a concern to this community as cried by _Mrs Alice Benjamine Oke,_ the King's wife who spoke on behalf of the women of the community. Thank God for _Dr. Bassey Agara Tom_ who elated their hopes when he promised that the school will be taken care of when he becomes the Chairman of Obubra LGA.  This makes it unambiguous that Obubra LG needs a leader that will hear the cry of his people and act accordingly.

Let's not forget also that Obubra and its environs is full of chaos. And any community breathing under such environment is capable of chasing people of business brain to somewhere else because no one will want to invest in an unsafe environment. We need a leader that can look into all these issues and ensures that Obubra becomes a safe place for investors.

In several occasions, complaints have been made concerning the banking operation in Obubra. Some querry that only first bank cannot serve the entire Obubra. Hence the need for another bank. While we agitate for a second bank in Obubra, it's also worthy of note that Obubra is not a commercial hub that is capable of attracting more banks.
This proves that it behoves us to do the needful by making our land an alluring center for investors to troop in for business. By this, it encourages more banks to come in too. But we need a leader that can help us achieve this goal.

To rebuild a new Obubra requires peace, unity and love as there has never been any successful nation that is built under the auspice of hate.
As a people we must be cautious of the fact that in every successful nation, unity of purpose doesn't work in tandem with any jingoish act of the people. Thus, to build a progressive and a united front, all of us must come together and work in pari passu devoid of communal sentiment and political favoritism.

Obubra at this time needs a leader that will bring peace and unity in the land. We need a leader that will see the development of Obubra as a priority. We need a leader that will see the the enthusiastic need to deliver Obubra from this floating ship that is capable of leading us to a pestilential aqua.
Thank God for giving us another Dr. Eyaba, _Dr. Bassey Agara Tom_ whom he has sent as a Messiah to correct the ills of Obubra as he emerge Chairman of Council in no distant time.
We must work in solidarity if we must actualize the dream of having a rebirthed Obubra. Indeed, a New Obubra is Possible (NOP).
