2020 Easter Celebrations: Inyang Asibong Gives Tips On How Governor Ayade Addresses Hunger, Poverty and Unemployment at Lockdown

Cross River State Commissioner for International Development Cooperation, Dr Inyang Asibong has urged the people of the state to be patient and adhere to various Government Interventions that is bringing succour to their homes at Easter and beyond.

In a special message signed to commemorate the 2020 Easter Celebrations, Dr Asibong said in the last three weeks of Lockdown, Governor Ben Ayade has approved the released of various Cross River,FG/World Bank Intervention Programmes to tackle hunger, tackle poverty and reduce unemployment in various local communities.

According to the Commissioner, the interventions includes, the Conditional Cash Transfer,  the YESSO Public Work Fare Programme, Community and Social Development Programme , SLOGOR ICT equipment distribution project for real time virtual COVID-19 case incidence monitoring amongst others.

This is outside the palliative measure providing directly by the State Government under the Covid-19 Taskforce Response Team with the use of the Single Social Register to distribute foods and non Food items to the very poor in the state.

"The efforts of His Excellency Sen.Prof. Ben Ayade , the Governor of Cross River State  to reach the very needy in our state using various welfare task nets in the Ministry Of International Development Cooperation during the COVID-19 pandemic, even when Cross River has not recorded any confirmed case of Covid-19 is highly commendable.

"Due to Easter Celebrations in sight  and the direct effort to solve the Challenges of the sit-at-home order, Governor Ayade three weeks ago approved the immediate payment of all counterpart funds and indeed release same for the envisaged social support.

"Again as part of Easter palliative, His Excellency directed the use of  bottom up approach to involve the citizens and to target the very poor.

"As I encourage you to join Governor Ben Ayade to change the face of Cross River Economy to Global height, I wish to let you know that  Coronavirus apart from being a health and medical problem globally,  also has huge economic challenges which Governor Ayade is tackling head on, using local and home made (Cross River) Initiatives and strategies,which is already recieving global accolades .
