Concerned Appointees of Governor Ben Ayade From Boki L.G.A Meet to Declare Their Support To The State and Local Government On The Ban Of Illegal Timber Logging In Boki L.G.A.




The concerned political appointees of  Cross River State Government from Boki local Government Area of Cross River State have converged in the metropolitan city of Calabar to join in Stopping the illegal timber logging in Boki Local Government Area.

The meeting was bothered on possible peaceful ways in ensuring that the Boki forest is preserved against foreigners who are illegally operating in the forest of Boki and destroying the natural endowments of Boki to satisfy their selfish interest.  

Accordingly, Comr Julius Obanghe kijuo who is serving as Senior Special Assistant(SSA) to the Governor of Cross River State on Public works Who presided over the meeting,  Stated that the essence of the meeting was to declare their support on the policy of the present administration to stop illegal timber logging in Boki Local Government of Cross River State And stated that the Government and the traditional institutions have a role to play in the educating of the Boki indigens who partner in illegal timber logging activities that have led to the destruction of the Boki forest and exposing the Boki communities to environmental hazards.

In the same vein, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Economic Development, Mr Stephen Onabe Akan also took his turn to thank the Governor and the Executive Chairman of Boki Local Government Council for the bold steps they have taken in making sure that illegal timber Logging in Boki Local Government Area is Put to an end, and that there is need for all to support the Chairman who has been working hard in making sure Boki is taken to a greater height.

The senior Special Assistant to the Governor on health, Mrs. Rita Abu recommended the need for the concern appointees of Government to meet with the Chairman of Boki Local Government Area and the Boki youths who are using timber as a means for survival and dialogue with them towards a resolution that will ensure the peaceful shutdown of illegal timber logging in Boki Local Government Area.

Barr. James Atibile laid emphasis on the need for appointees of Cross River State Government, to support the Governor and the Boki Local Government Chairman in Making sure Boki forest is preserved and Above all urged the good people of Boki to pray for the Governor, Senator(prof)Ben Ayade and continually support him for the love he has shown to Boki Local Government Area.


Hon. Engr Oliver Ekwa Special Assistant to the Governor on Gas Development,Mr Ahmed Eban, a member of Muslim pilgrim and Other appointees in the meeting also supported the idea of the need for all Boki Stakeholders to meet in resolving and putting a total end to the deforestation of Boki.

 The appointees all prayed for tremendous developments and peace in Boki Local Government and the state, and declared their support for Governor Ben Ayade while they encouraged him not to relent in his good works, but rather do more for the vast development of Cross River State.
