Cross River Lawmaker, Hon. Frank Ovat Graces Edondon New Yam Festival, Harps On Peace, Unity

The Member representing Obubra II State Constituency and PDP Candidate for the 2023 House of Assembly election, Hon. Frank Ovat has urged the people of Obubra to embrace dialogue and other non-violent approaches to resolving conflicts.

Ovat made this call on Saturday, during the 2023 edition of Edondon New Yam Festival. The lawmaker while commending the chiefs, women and youths for their efforts in sustaining the rich cultural heritage of the  people and for intervening in the chieftaincy tussle that almost engulfed the community, noted that trivial issues bordering on chieftaincy and land that should ordinarily be quelled at the beginning are allowed to degenerate into disastrous conflicts, thereby claiming lives and destroying properties worth millions of Naira.  He maintained that peace, unity and tolerance are a guarantee for a sustainable development in the area.

Earlier, while addressing stakeholders at the Palace of the village head, the lawmaker insisted that the people of constituency II deserve a man with a vast wealth of knowledge and experience as their representative, while  reiterating that the well being of the people, provision of opportunities and promotion of the rich cultural heritage of Adun- Okum kingdoms will form the bedrock of his second term representation. He encouraged stakeholders to evangelize for the victory of the PDP at all levels come 2023.

Speaking on behalf of Edondon Community and indeed the people of Okum kingdom, former Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA) and leader of Edondon community, Chief Barry Inyang thanked the lawmaker and his entourage for gracing the event, while assuring that Edondon community will vote overwhelmingly for Hon. Frank and all the candidates of the PDP in the forthcoming elections. The administrator described the lawmaker as a very sincere, visionary, intelligent and determined leader who possesses the needed experience, contacts, capacity and zeal to deliver a robust and people oriented representation.

Also speaking, a youth leader in the community, Engr. Ephraim Akamo who defined Hon. Frank Ovat's first term as one worthy of commendation,  maintained that the lawmaker has been accessible, responsive and generous and deserves a second term to continue with his people oriented representation.

The very colorful event held at Edondon playground and was attended by notable figures of both Adun and Okum kingdoms, including the SDP deputy Governorship Candidate and Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Cross River State, Snr. Comr. Dan Obo, Hon. Beatrice Ibingha and others.
