When Grace Speaks, Protocols are Suspended, A case study of Dr. Betta Edu PhD By Oti Joe Ashia

The rise to prominence of Dr. Betta Edu PhD to the position of Minister Designate, Federal Republic of Nigeria is a case of *_When God's Grace speaks... Protocols are suspended_*.

In fact, not so many would have thought, talk more of believing that The Frm. Dg, Cross River State Primary Health Care and Development Agency (CRPHCDA) Dr. Betta Edu PhD will within four years rise from the position of Commissioner for Health Cross River State, to National Women Leader of the largest Political Party in Africa, The All Progressives Congress APC and now Ministerial Designate awaiting inauguration after her sterling performance during her screening yesterday.

No doubt, her perceived Nomination and subsequent shortlisting as one of the potential Ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria witnessed one of the highest smear Campaign of calumny and character assassination in the Political landscape of Nigeria and Cross River State in particular.

Who could have thought that in a mostly elders and male-dominated  political environment like ours, a 36 year old Nigerian Female Youth will defy all Criticisms and attacks to be so lifted and so favoured.

No doubt everything was working for her, from the massive support from the women groups to her qualitative representation and grasps of Communication skills, it was however unfortunate and regrettable that it was her fellow youth who were hired as media attack dogs to descend on her like jackals pouncing on death carcasses at a time when we were to be celebrating the Victory of the *Not too Young to Rule* law and 13% Women inclusion in governance.

I have had cause to plead with some of my fellow Youth in another platforms recently that *...rather than engage in character assassination and blackmail, let's pray for those who will be so favoured because there was nothing the blackmail could do at this time...*

I am sure those who towed that lane would have been licking their wounds in regret right now.

Yes, criticisms are normal if they are intended for good purpose and not meant to pull someone down or intended to prevent people from achieving their life's goal.

The youth should understand that for us to be seen, we will need to stand on the shoulders of those greater than us. And if we must achieve our goals, we must desist from this Pull Him Down (phd syndrome).

Dr. Betta understands this philosophy very well and that was how she was able to get here courtesy of her Boss and Leader, the immediate past Governor of Cross River State HE Distinguished Sen Prof Ben Ayade CON KSJi.

The gang up against Ayade himself is a story for another day.

I do not even what to delve into the events that characterized the recent Nomination of 20 party loyalists for State and Federal appointments where members were at Dagas-drawn because in the end, some of those who fought to be included regretted why they even fought unnecessarily knowing that power comes from God.

_Those who do not know how God's Grace works, the case of Dr. Betta Edu is a typical example_

I am already tapping into that grace.
