Needs Assessment Committee Meets With Commissioner For Humanitarian Affairs, Discovers Several Critical Infrastructure and Facility Gaps Within The Ministry

Yesterday, the Honourable Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Mrs Helen Isamoh-Egodo, PhD received in her office members of the Inter-ministerial Committee on Needs Assessment of Commissioners and Secretaries' Offices.

Briefing the committee, the commissioner highlighted several critical infrastructure and facility gaps within her office, while decrying the absence of office spaces, conference hall and essential facilities in the ministry. She revealed that the Permanent Secretary and key departments such as procurement and administration are operating without dedicated office spaces.

Egodo further appealed for adequate office spaces for these personnel to perform their duties effectively. "Upon assumption of office, I noticed several critical infrastructure and facility gaps within my office and the absence of office spaces for personnel, especially the permanent Secretary, procurement officer and administrative officer.  And I would like to humbly request urgent intervention. I strongly believe that investing in these essential facilities will significantly improve the working conditions and productivity within our office"

In his reaction, the chairman of the committee, Engr. Harrison Ogar revealed that their responsibility is to assess the state of the offices with a view to identifying key areas of enhancement and investments. Mr Ogar assured the commissioner and staff of the ministry of rapid response while reiterating Governor Otu's commitment to improving the working conditions and productivity within the offices, improving administrative processes, enhancing service delivery, and ultimately contributing to the overall development and governance of the state.

"Based on the findings of the assessment, the committee will make recommendations for rehabilitation of the office, procurement of essential equipment and provision of office spaces for the ministry. This is to demonstrate Governor Otu's commitment to enhancing the functioning of the commissioners' and secretaries' offices in the state. This commitment includes ensuring that these offices have the necessary equipment and infrastructure to carry out their responsibilities effectively"
