Etaba Tasks Obubra Communities On Peaceful Coexistence, Unity

The member representing Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mike Etaba has urged communities in Obubra Local Government Area to live peacefully with one another and to emulate the example set by the people of Yala-Obubra, Onyen Orangha and Akam Ogbagwoni communities in Ofumbongha/Yala and Ochon wards respectively.

The lawmaker made this assertion during the marriage blessings of three of his constituents, Peter Ogar Okpa(Limited), Ndifon Ogon (Wellas) and Edwin Patrick  at Christ the King Catholic Church, Nkum Okpambe.

Etaba who noted that these three communities have lived harmoniously for years, commended the people for their efforts in maintaining peace with one another, in spite of language and other differences, highlighting the ripple effect of their unity and peaceful coexistence to the growth and development of the constituency. He emphasized that peaceful coexistence is the key to sustainable progress and development, not just for the communities themselves but for the constituency as a whole.

Etaba also urged the communities to embrace diversity and engage in open dialogue, recognising that differences can propel innovation, foster an inclusive society and ensure growth and development. By fostering an environment of respect, acceptance and support, the lawmaker affirmed that these communities can thrive and become beacons of unity and harmony, growth and progress. Supporting the three couples with a hundred thousand Naira each, Etaba emphasized the need for love, respect, and empathy in marriage. He stressed that healthy partnerships play a vital role in building strong families, thereby contributing to the growth and well-being of the entire society.

Speaking earlier on behalf of the three communities, former councillor of Ochon ward, liaison officer to  Etaba and brother to one of the newlyweds, Hon. Denis Okpa welcomed the lawmaker, while appreciating him for not only prioritising the development of the three communities by way of siting many of his  projects in the land but also appointing two of their sons and one daughter as Aides. He expressed satisfaction in the lawmaker's commitment to upholding the values of peaceful coexistence and supporting stronger family bonds.

Furthermore, while assuring that the people of Yala, Onyen and Akam would continue to work towards peace and progress, Hon. Okpa maintained that the positive impact of Etaba's message and commitment to development would extend far beyond regional boundaries, inspiring other communities to prioritize harmony, love and progress as well.
