Rt. Hon. Mike Etaba, member representing Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency and Hon. Oden Ewa, Cross River State Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, were among the numerous prominent figures that graced the burial of Madam Enyang Okpa, mother of Hon. Etaba Okpa Etaba.


The church funeral, which held on Saturday at the Presbyterian Church, 

Apiapum Town parish, was enveloped in a somber atmosphere as family, friends and a multitude of dignitaries gathered to pay their final respects to the late head mistress.




In his condolence message, Rt. Hon. Mike Etaba expressed deep sorrow, describing Madam Okpa as a pillar of strength and a beacon of wisdom. He acknowledged her unwavering dedication to her family and community, highlighting her role as a source of inspiration for many. "Madam Enyang Okpa's life was a testament to resilience and love," he stated, "Her legacy will continue to guide us."

Also, in his tribute, Hon. Oden Ewa extolled the good life lived by the matriach, emphasizing her numerous contributions to the social fabric of Apiapum. Ewa, who was represented by Former Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria and currently the Special Adviser to the governor on youth mobilization, HY Comr. Dan Obo Jnr spoke of her kindness and generosity, noting her sincere commitment to the well-being of those around her. "Her passing leaves a void that will be difficult to fill and I promised my continued support," Hon. Ewa said, "We will forever remember her acts of compassion and her enduring spirit."


While conducting a special service in honor of Madam Enyang Etaba, the officiating minister, Rev. Johnson Effiong, JP, delivered a sermon that centered on the themes of faith, service, accountability and the enduring nature of love. He reminded the congregation of the importance of living a life dedicated to God and community, drawing parallels to Madam Okpa’s exemplary life. He emphasized the biblical message of hope, resurrection and judgment, offering solace to the grieving family and friends.

The burial proceedings were marked by a series of religious rites. The church service, filled with hymns and prayers, was followed by the interment at the deceased's son's compound, with reception later at the field.  



 Hon. Etaba Okpa, Senior Legislative Aide to Rt. Hon. Mike Etaba and a member of the bereaved family, expressed profound gratitude to all who attended the funeral, particularly, Rt. Hon. Mike Etaba, Commissioner Oden Ewa, the chairman of Obubra LG council and other top leaders "We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time," he said. "The presence of so many distinguished guests, community leaders, and friends has provided us with immense comfort. We are truly grateful for the kind words, prayers, and gestures of sympathy. Your presence has honored the memory of our beloved mother, and we will forever cherish your kindness."
