Gov Otu Commends CR-SEMA DG Efa Nyong's Leadership During Flood Simulation Exercise

Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Otu, has commended the Director General of the Cross River State Emergency Management Agency (CR-SEMA), Mr. Efa Nyong, for his proactive leadership and commitment to disaster management since assuming office.

The Governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Anthony Owan Enoh, gave the commendation during the grand finale of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA)'s three-day Full Scale Flood Disaster Response Simulation Exercise held at Marina Beach, Calabar.

Speaking on behalf of the Governor, Prof. Owan Enoh said Mr. Nyong has, within a short period in office, demonstrated the competence, capacity and dedication required to effectively coordinate emergency management in Cross River State.

He noted that the successful hosting of the simulation exercise, alongside the agency's swift response to recent flood and landslide disasters across the state, reflects the Director General's commitment to Governor Otu's People First agenda.

The Governor further reaffirmed the State Government's commitment to supporting CR-SEMA and strengthening collaboration with NEMA and other humanitarian partners to improve disaster preparedness, emergency response and the protection of lives and property across Cross River State.

Responding, Mr. Efa Nyong expressed appreciation to Governor Otu for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to continue working tirelessly with relevant stakeholders to build a more resilient Cross River through proactive disaster risk reduction, public sensitization and coordinated emergency response.
