CR-SEMA, RED CROSS TAKE FLOOD PREPAREDNESS TO ANANTIGHA

The Cross River State Emergency Management Agency (CR-SEMA), in collaboration with the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Calabar, has taken its flood preparedness and community sensitization campaign to Anantigha, Calabar South, with a practical cleanup exercise aimed at reducing flood risks.

Led by the Director General of CR-SEMA, Mr. Efa Nyong, the team, alongside Local Emergency Management Committees (LEMCs) and Red Cross representatives, engaged residents and cleared clogged drainage channels, cut overgrown vegetation and cleaned the surrounding environment.

The team also paid a courtesy visit to the community chief before commencing the exercise.

As part of the intervention, Aquatabs were distributed to households and residents to support access to safer drinking water and reduce the risk of waterborne diseases during the rainy season.

The exercise reinforces a simple message: Flood preparedness starts with the community. Keep your environment clean, keep drainages clear and take early warnings seriously.
