Private Donor Supports CR-SEMA’s Flood Response with Relief Items
By David Asu
A private individual from Cross River State, simply identified as Mr. Peter, has extended support to the Cross River State Emergency Management Agency (CR-SEMA) to assist persons displaced by recent flooding across the state.
The donor, who currently lives abroad and wished to remain anonymous, provided assorted food items, beverages, washing and other essential household materials to support the immediate needs of flood-affected persons.
The items were delivered to the Agency by the Director-General of the Cross River State Debt Management Department, Mr. Ekpe Essien Ekpe, who represented the donor in presenting the items to the Director-General of CR-SEMA, Mr. Efa Nyong.
Receiving the items, the Director-General, Mr. Efa Nyong, expressed appreciation to the donor for the gesture, noting that the support would contribute to alleviating the difficulties faced by persons affected by the flood disaster.
Mr. Nyong commended the donor for identifying with affected communities at a time when they needed support, stressing that the flooding was a natural disaster that had disrupted the lives and livelihoods of many residents.
He also called for more individuals, organisations and well-meaning members of the public to support ongoing efforts to provide relief and assistance to communities affected by the disaster.
The Director-General further conveyed the Agency’s appreciation to Mr. Peter for his thoughtfulness and commitment to the welfare of his fellow Cross Riverians, despite being outside the country.
CR-SEMA continues to work with relevant stakeholders and partners in responding to the needs of persons affected by flooding across the state.
