By ERIACY CONFIDENCE OBA
As several concerned people, both members and non members continue to react to the result of the just concluded AGN national peace and reconciliation conference held in Enugu, one of the prominent stakeholders in the guild and chairman of river chapter, Bartholomew Gerald Aguugo has cleared the air as an eye witness, narrating the whole incident that occurred on that epochal day. Below is his speech.
"Fellow Actors, friends, veterans and fans of the prestigious Actors Guild of Nigeria.
Permit me to begin by reaffirming my position in the last AGN Conference held at Enugu, on the 22nd of August, 2017.
It is my conscious will to pay profound gratitude to the members of the Local Organising Committee, chiefly the Chairman, Chief Dr. Remy Ohajianya and his very conscientious Secretary, Amb. Millicent Jack for their selfless, unquantifiable and unrefundable sacrifices rendered towards the achievement of peace, especially at a critical time such as this. I make bold to call this committee a SUCCESS. Yes, for the fact that they had prior to the election which brought about the government of unity succeeded in bringing to an agreeable table, all waring factions.
LEGALITY OF THE CONFERENCE
To the benefit of the absentee comrades, delegates who for one reason or the other could not make it to Enugu, the Media, social media networks/
platforms and all concern, I wish to state categorically pertaining the conference as follows:
1. The conference was well attended by teams of delegates from 29 states out of the 32 AGN functional state in the federation.
2. The LOC had prior had a consultative meeting with the key players of the waring factions, i.e., Amb. Emeka Ike and Miss Ibinabo Fiberesima.
3. The aforementioned parties agreed to the peace conference at Lagos before the LOC and BOT.
4. SAINT MARADONA, the one in whose name the guild was drawn to court was at the Enugu conference wherein he affirmed over and over again - his team's commitment to lay down its fighting gloves. I can also recall his suggestion to the Congress about the desolution of all the waring parties. Shortly also, Emeka Ike, his principal reaffirmed same "verbally" saying as follows, "We are here for peace. My team and I are ready to make peace and drop our factions. No more faction." In his wisdom, the LOC Chairman asked him to repeat this on a plainer tongue, which he humbly did.
The big question is: where there are no more more factions, where all factional governments have been desolved, how then does the guild sustain its national leadership System? Should there be a lacuna?
5. The Congress haven suffered from the shelf beneficial resentment between
Emeka and Ibinabo, and which has clearly affected the guild's progress reserves every right to decide on a conference such as the Enugu conference.
6. It is worthy of note that same Emeka Ike began his peech by commending the LOC for making the Conference posible.
GOVERNMENT OF NATIONAL UNITY
It is very pertinent to note that the said government of national unity was birthed following a vacuum created by the CONGRESS' desolution of all national factions, to which Emeka Ike agreed again.
Now I had moved that motion following my knowledge of the harms done AGN by the continuous rancor "staged" by the above mentioned factions to hold the guild to ransom.
I didn't know there was going to be any from of election, just as none other knew or pre-planned, until it became necessary. Yes, note again that the vacuum created by the desolution needed not be left unfilled for even a day.
FORMER PRESIDENT, IBINABO FIBERESIMA
Although, Ibinabo Fiberesima has gestured several forms of what could preferably be called BETRAYAL and INGRATITUDE towards me. Notwithstanding, I sincerely wish to state here that my decision to move a motion for the desolution of all factional National Executives was not and has never been propelled by sentiment neither was it intended for a payback.
Why did I move the motion? It ranges from innumerable and obvious facts militating against her continues stay in office, such as her long overdue tenure, the cogent need to return peace to AGN and so on. I understand that I am better off an epitome of forgiveness than a barrel of vendetta. I do not have any bitterness towards her. The simple truth is that our Guild needs to move forward and to do that, an astitute administrator needs to mount the podium of leadership . I have to state this so that those who are casting aspartion on Barth as the one who spareheaded the removal of his own state chapter member from office would know what happened. So that it would at once, answer to the series of calls that I have gotten since after August 22nd in connection with Ibinabo's report about her desolution.
EMEKA IKE
As for Ambassador Emeka Ike, I won't claim to know him so well, except as a colleague who was succeeding in the industry before the whole AGN politics diverted his concentration. I also can not remember meeting him until that day at the conference when he walked in with about.... how many were those police officers? Yes, they where uncountable. I had first wondered if he was coming for civil war. Lol. Well, that was just a comic relief.
HONESTLY, I would say that his submissions at the conference regarding reasons why he began the agitation sounded fine. Of course it is a good idea attempting to stop a few sacred cows from seeing AGN as personal property, which according to him was his key reason. You can take my word, I wholeheartedly believed you sir, but until you asked for a closed door meeting with the BOT to be granted you. Remember, I had countered that for the reason that it may crop up an unhealthy political banta which may result in disruption of the "post peace" process. I used that term because the LOC had at the time achieved the aim of the conference which was to have you and Maradona, the BOT and the entire Congress come to a point of agreement, in company of those mass of Veterans which included: Nkem Owoh, Chief Mrs. Chinwe Owoh, Mazi Chiwetaluagwu, Diewait, Vitalis Ndubuisi and many other. I was also doing that as a clue to help you understand the mind of the peace yearning Congress men and women who were ready to stop at nothing but have all the waring factions stay aloof the corridors of leadership. Also remember that upon granting your appeal, you Enlisted and submitted to the Congress names of contestants of which your name was number 1 "as Presidential contestant", and thereafter agreed to an Election which was intended to bring about a government of National Unity. I hear that you are now crying foul to the election. How could that be? Could it be that the names you submitted was to ridicule the Congress? Well, I refuse to believe so. If not, it would preempt some bad languages from me. I respect you and still wish to.
Back to my lovely readers. It will interest you to know that the voting began immediately following Emeka Ike's approval. Himself and Emeka Rolas, the second contestant who's name was also nominated were then asked to step out so as to ensure a secret open balloting.
Well, let me not bore you with too much volume. In the end, the various nominees scored as follows:
1. President: Emeka Ike 14 votes, Emeka Rollers 42 votes.
2. National secretary: Samuel Onibiyo 42 votes (unopposed)
3. VP North Central Michael Orumah (unopposed)
4. VP North east Marshall Johnson (unopposed)

10. Financial secretary Edith Irabor 3 votes: Moses Kasa 40 votes.
11. DGS AB Cowboy 49 votes (unopposed)
12. Chief whip Rex Maxwell

I pray that God gives you the wisdom to wade through the streams of all odds while uniting and taking AGN to its deserved hight. Once again, Congratulations my President! Long live AGN! long live Nollywood!"
