WHY OBUBRA SHOULD BE CONSIDERED FOR CRSHA SPEAKER

BY ERIACY CONFIDENCE OBA

As I join my thin voice to the choruses of all concerned Cross Riverians clamoring for the speaker of CRSHA to be zoned to the Central in compliance with zoning formula and on the path of justice and fairness, I wish to draw the attention of the general public to the following facts:

The Central senatorial District is made up of six Local government Areas with three each from the Old Ikom and Old Obubra respectively. The old Ikom have held several positions including the Senate for over 20 years now. So it will be injustice to room them in in the consideration for who becomes speaker when they are already holding to SSG and Senate.

Within the old Obubra made up of Yakurr, Obubra and Abi, let's consider them one by one.

Yakurr Local Government Area:
Yakurr has not only produced a Governor in the person of  Clement Ebri, minister in the person of Pst Usani Usani and Speaker in the person of Rt Hon Bassey Ewa but have held several other sensitive positions in both federal and within the state.

Abi Local Government Area:
Abi too has produced a Governor and minister in the person of Sen Liyel Imoke and speaker in the person of Rt Hon. John Gaul Lebo, the outgoing. Apart from that they have also enjoyed both federal and state presence since inception.

What about OBUBRA?
In all fairness, Obubra has been the most deprived LGA in the state and deserves to be  considered for the seat of the speaker of the 9th Assembly?
No Governor !
No Senator!!
No Minister !!!
No Speaker!!!!
What then is justice and equity?
As we celebrate the outcome of the 2019 Governorship and House of Assembly Elections, let us not forget that another task stairs us in the face consciously and begs for history to be made on the part of democracy: the defense of justice and equity in the Cross River State House of Assembly.

Will it not be injustice to divert this divine opportunity for Obubra to produce speaker for the first time in history?
To me the outcome of the 2019 Governorship and House of Assembly Elections by Providence reshuffled and positioned Obubra in a leading advantage over other candidates for the job of speaker in CRSHA with the Reection of Hon Friday Okpechi representing Obubra 1 who to me is more promising for the job but it seems while we celebrate the exit of the outgoing Speaker in favor of Obubra, Some Cross Riverians are warming up to shortchange the hands of destiny? History will judge us harshly if we don't protect equity. Let Obubra produce the next speaker for the 9th Assembly.

Obubra like every other LGA in the elected two lawmakers to represent them in CRSHA.Now who is that anointed man in OBUBRA?

Hon Friday Okpechi AKA Catch Fire, member Elect for Obubra 1 is the anointed man from Obubra! He is very young, sound, intelligent, ready and willing to take the 9th Cross River State House of Assembly to an enviable height. His counterpart representing Obubra 2 Who would made another good speaker is first timer and needs to learn the job first. If chosen fairly Hon Friday Okpechi is the next speaker of Cross River State House of Assembly 2019
