 Gov. Ayade Commences Distribution Of Palliatives To Vulnerable persons" In the Central Senatorial District Of The  State with Assurance  To Reach out to All Cross Riverians of that category


The Commissioner for Humanity and Social Welfare, Hon. Blessing Egbara, has reasserted the commitment of the state Governor, Sen Prof Ben Ayade, to reach out to all the aged and vulnerable citizens of Cross River with sufficient palliatives to cushion the effect of the global pandemic, COVID-19 these category of persons.

Hon. Egbara who stated this on Sunday, August 2, 2020 while arriving in Ikom, to commence with the distribution of palliatives in the Central Senatorial District, after rounding up with the Northern Senatorial District.

She disclosed that  it is in the wisdom of the governor to make life comfortable for the poor, aged and vulnerable in Cross River and that nothing can truncate or distract His Excellency from that goal.

As you can see, we are here in continuation of the palliative exercise as directed by His Excellency Professor Benedict Ayade, we started in the North and by the Grace of God we have done all the 5 LGA in the North, we are in Central now, we have the Vice Chairman of Ikom, Boki and Etung here present with us. 

As you can see, they are all here present and ready to carry out the exercise with Us in their various LGA, we are starting today with Boki, and I believe they have sensitized their people well enough. It is a practical exercise, we are going down there to carry out this exercise ourselves, no one will be permitted to share the Palliatives to anyone apart from my team members, and I,  we work closely with the Councilors who will lead us into the Villages where we can meet with the Beneficiaries and hand over the Palliatives to them."

The Commissioner said that the exercise is an  ongoing  "Operation Feed the Vulnerable persons in the State by Governor Ayade, so as to put smiles on the faces of more  Cross Riverians as Phase 2 of the palliative exercise kickstart in the Central Senatorial district to reach as many beneficiaries as possible.

After meeting with the Vice Chairmen of the different LGAs in the Central  Senatorial District and addressed them on what she expects from them during the period of the exercise in their different LGAs, Hon. Egbara, stated, "we look forward to a peaceful, well coordinated exercise and a very good and encouraging response from the people and I believe the people will appreciate this effort of the Governor. We are targeting the Vulnerables, the Aged people, the ones living with disabilities, the widow's, those are the ones we want to see and hand over these palliatives to, " Egbara maintained.

Speaking on the Exercise, the Vice Chairman Boki LGA, Mrs. Mary Jacob Esung expressed her joy in experiencing such a kind touch of Humanity by His Excellency, and that the  Project is a divine one that has come at the right time to ease the tension and hunger in the land during this period of COVID-19.

She said that her people are ready and have been well sensitized about the exercise and assured the Honorable Commissioner that the people of Boki  and the councilors will work closely with Her and her team to give her the necessary support she need to ensure the exercise is a success in the LGA.

After several hours of waiting, the Honorable Commissioner decided to commence the exercise with the councilors and the representatives of Councilors she could find on ground which lead to the exercise starting and running into late hours in Boki LGA.

Hon. Egbara appeal to other councilors in the remaining LGA to Cooperate with her to make the job easy and assured CrossRiverians that nothing will stop Her and her team from carrying out the Mandate of His Excellency Professor Senator Ben Ayade

The Humanitarian Team led by the Commissioner went on to share the Palliatives to Beneficiaries of different communities under, Abo, Alanku, beebo/Bumaji, Boje, Buda, Bunyia/Okubuchi, Borum/Oku/Njua, Ogep Alike, Buentsebe, Kakwagom/Bawop wards.

After attending to the above stated communities, Hon. Egbara directed that the Exercise should be put on hold till the  next day as it was already too late  to continue with the exercise in the remaining two wards of  Kakwagom and Ekpashi whose communities haven't benefited.
