DR BASSEY TOM COMMISSIONS BRIDGE IN IYAMITET, SEEKS TO PARTNER WITH THE PEOPLE FOR MORE DEVELOPMENT

 

The Executive Chairman of Obubra Local Government Council, Hon Dr Bassey Agara Tom has yesterday December 17th, 2020 commissioned a Bridge linking the Field of Diamond Mining Company, Okpon Forest, Iyamitet Community, Obubra.

The Field of Diamond is a Mining Company in Iyamitet Community that is extracting solid mineral deposit in Okpon Forest, Iyamitet  Community. According to the CEO of the Company, Lady Diamond Sekibo who built the Bridge, the area is rich with different kinds of minerals underneath. She said that if the area is fully tapped, it will bring development to the LGA.

Lady Sekibo decried lack of government presence in Iyamitet, lamenting the refusal of investors to invest with her because of the bad road. "There is so much in the land of Iyamitet that can benefit the people in terms of solid minerals. Presently we have discovered 14 different types of minerals in the land and we have declared 5, as we dig further we will continue to declare them. This is one of the richest basin in Nigeria and Obubra people are blessed to have all these mineral resources"

Lady Diamond Sekibo said she has earlier built a sick bay in the community, and she is currently building a Town Hall. According to her, she has a lot to do for the people of Iyamitet and with the collaboration of the Local Government Chairman, the story will change in the next five years. The CEO thanked the Chairman Dr Bassey Tom for giving her the attention she has been longing for. "I tried to get this attention from your predecessor but to no avail, this is my 8 years in  Obubra, my desire is to see government presence in Iyamitet so that these resources will be fully tapped, thank you Mr Chairman for believing in us"

Speaking during the commissioning, the Executive Chairman of Council who was ably represented by the Secretary of Council, Hon Mrs Helen Isangha, said he was overwhelmed by the gesture of the CEO, saying that not every companies meet up their social responsibilities to their host communities.

"I see capacity in women and I believe if women were to take charge of the exploitation of crude in the Niger Delta, the story would have been different. I am happy to see these projects on ground and it's my pleasure to partner with you in order to achieve more development and open up the place for more investors. Your activities are in line with my agenda of peaceful coexistence and the  development of our land, therefore, we can work in collaboration to redeem the people from want"

Dr Bassey Tom thanked the host community for their peaceful nature, advising them to take charge of the projects in terms of maintenance and security. He called on government of all levels, to also beam their search light of development in Obubra, considering the huge mineral deposits God has given to the people.

We were made to understand that other mining companies are also stationed in Iyamitet but The Field of Diamond LTD is more pronounced because of their desire to attract development to the area. The CEO lady Diamond Sekibo said one of the stones is Pyrite (fool gold) which comes in black and white, the black is Lead and the white is Barite all in one stone. The stones are taken to Canada to be refined and turned into liquid form which can be used to make jewelries and other finished products.
