YOBUCA Abuja Chapter Donates Books, Other Items To Schools In Nkum Okpambe, Onyen Orangha communities

Yala Obubra Community Association, Abuja Chapter on the 31st December, 2021 donated no fewer than 700 Exercise books and other items to primary school pupils in Nkum Okpambe, Akam Ogbagwoni and Onyen Orangha communities, all in Obubra Local Government Area of Cross River State. 

Speaking, the president of YOBUCA - Abuja Chapter, Mr. Oba Charles Oba said the exercise is an expression of the chapter's belief and commitment to education and urged the pupils to take their studies seriously in order to compete favourably with their counterparts in other climes. 

The president who spoke through a representative and spokesperson of the Association, Mr. Pius Agbor maintained that" The donation was not triggered by political or personal interest but a deliberate move by the Yala-Obubra indigenes resident in Abuja to contribute meaningfully  to the community that raised them.

He further pledged the Association's continuous support for education and the development of  Nkum Okpambe, Akam Ogbagwoni and Onyen Orangha communities.

Speaking also, Computer Scientist and Assistant Secretary of the Association, Comr. Fepsi Ogiri revealed that YOBUCA Abuja Chapter has put in place plans to embark on several intervention projects across the three communities which will include, offer of scholarships to students and renovation of some dilapidated structures in both primary and secondary Schools in the community.

Earlier, Nollywood Filmmaker and CEO of Coneri Nigeria, Comr. Eriacy Confidence Oba, while applauding the effort of YOBUCA Abuja Chapter for the initiative, decribed the exercise as a successful strategy designed to further unite Nkum Okpambe, Akam Ogbagwoni and Onyen Orangha communities. He said Coneri Nigeria and the Government of Cross River State are collaborating to float Okpambe Fishing festival, a major event that will serve as another strategic avenue aimed at uniting the communities as well as harness the potentials  of the people. 

Speaking on behalf of Onyen Orangha and Akam Ogbagwoni communities, former Councilor of Ochon Ward and CRO for Obubra Constituency ll, Hon. Denis Okpa Obugha commended YOBUCA Abuja Chapter for the gesture while assuring of continuous cooperation and peaceful coexistence among the communities. He charged the people to continue to see themselves as one entity rather than three separate communities as well as urged the people of Onyen Orangha and Akam to reciprocate the love and brotherliness shown by the people of Yala-Obubra. 

On his part, the acting Clan Head of Yala-Obubra, HRH Ochuole Gabriel Inaku has urged other chapters of YOBUCA to emulate the footsteps of the Abuja Chapter in attracting developmental projects to the community. Ochuole Inaku made this statement during the Book distribution exercise embarked upon by the Yala-Obubra community Association, Abuja Chapter held at Christ the King Primary school, Nkum Okpambe, Yala-Obubra. The acting Clan Head, who was represented by one of his cabinet members, Ochuole Ola maintained that the Abuja Chapter of YOBUCA has proven their determination to see to the development of the community.
