Sen. Gershom Bassey Tasks Muslims In Cross River State To Promote Peaceful Coexistence In Their Host Communities

Frontline gubernatorial aspirant of Cross River State on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sen. Gershom Bassey has called on Cross Riverians and Nigerians to eschew bigotry and promote peaceful coexistence in our society not minding our religious differences.


Sen. Bassey said this in his Eid-el-Fitr message to the Muslims in Cross River State as they celebrated this year's Salah. He said Ramadan was God's way of teaching Muslims the precepts of living a virtuous life, where people desist from all impurities and experienced denial and discomfort, thus,  appreciating the deprivation suffered by the less privileged.


Sen. Gershom Bassey expressed his believe that Islam is a religion of peace and so charged the the Muslims in Cross River State to continue to showcase this peaceful nature and live harmoniously with their host communities. He assured them that Cross Riverians are warm and welcoming and that is why they have lived and done business here in relative peace.


Sen. Bassey expressed strongly that he believes the Almighty would accept the sacrifice of Ramadan, and bless Muslims and Cross Riverians. He thanked Allah for "granting our Moslem brothers and sisters in Cross River State the divine grace to carry out this all important religious obligation this year."

 

The Distinguished Senator also charged the Muslim Ummah to use this Salah celebration to pray to Allah for peaceful conduct of the parties primaries elections coming up soon. He advised that the purification of Ramadan should discourage any perpetration of illegalities in the coming elections and also admonished Muslims not to allow themselves to used as agents of disruption. Sen. Gershom Bassey wished the Ummah a wonderful Salah celebration and urged all Muslims to abide by the teachings and the precepts of Ramadan in their daily activities.
