Chief Chris Agam Agara's Governorship Declaration: The Real Message Of Hope For Cross Riverians

Charles Essien

Nigeria's nascent democracy despite the numerous challenges confronting  the system can  be said to have attained  that stage of maturity with over 22 years of unbroken  democratic rule since the return of the path of the country to Democracy in 1999.

Democracy as a system of government hinges more on the  people as the major pillar  of the system which is the reason why every growing and thriving democracy is said to be the reflection and quality of choices cum decisions made by the people.

Little wonder why the Former President  of the United States of America was given the credit of being the best political actor  to have ever conceptualized democracy with his emphasis revolving around the people as the major pillar cum instrument of the system.

The most unique aspect of the system which distinguished it  from others is the right of the people to be involved by voting and  be voted for in any election through which authoritative binding decisions are made in alignment with the constitutional provision.

The season of election is around with the constitutional Change of power set  to take place across the country as enshrined in the  constitution giving another room for political decisions and choices to be made with two possible results of either making or marring the country or State with its resultant effects

on the people.

Cross Rivers State is already witnessing a  great paradigm shift for the rebirth of good  governance  that can be described to be  people's- oriented to be   driven by the developmental  revolution about to  sweep  the entire state of Cross River  with no aspect or sector of governance to be left untouched.

This was the major and fulcrum of the message of real hope for a  greater, better, and flourishing Cross- Rivers as contained in the DECLARATION Address  of Chief  Chris AGAM Agara who is jostling  for the office of Governor of Cross River State.

Critically examining the declaration speech of the man of the moment leaves no one doubt or put anyone in a state of confusion but rather consciousness of the quality, pedigree, and high level of the preparation of the man who is ready to bring the desired change  for a  greater, better and functional Cross River State.

His declaration message touched  every facet of life and the sectors of governance  such as Education, Social Engineering , Infrastructural development and rural development, Sports development, Security, Economy,  Research and Development, Human capacity development and  Employment, building of Viable science and technology  indeed have shown that his journey in  the race is about of a  great and  quality service geared towards changing of narratives.

It is no doubt that the success  story of Barr. Chris Agam as a successful business mogul  and investor with the impact  made which has contributed to the growth and development of Cross- River will  be of great immense value if given the mandate to be at  helm of affairs of the state with his experience and exposure of over 3 decades both in private and public governance coming to bear the more like the Governor of the State.

This is no time for trial and error in leadership and governance again with the  crystal clear vision and trajectory of  Barr. Chris is set to take Cross River to that enviable height in the comity of States.

We must not slow  the pace of growth and development of the State   which is guaranteed under him as documented in his declaration but get it right with the right leadership he is set to institutionalize in the State.

His  antecedents and pedigree speak volumes of the right and visionary leadership people are to enjoy in bringing the desired transformation to Cross-River.

This is the time the great  people of Cross-River must  speak unanimously in support of an ideal, purposeful, and progressive leadership  for the future of Cross-River.

With Chief Agam Agara throwing his hat into the ring is a message that greater things await the people of Cross-River.

Cross River has what it takes both in human and resources to compete favorably in the comity of States if the right leadership is put in place.

We mustn't let the golden and brighter opportunity slide now without maximizing it through  overwhelming support that is required to make the vision and mission for a better Cross-River a reality  with the resurgence of hope for a better Cross-River State
