NSASA Pays A Courtesy Call On The Commissioner For Humanitarian Affairs 


The Nigeria Sociological and Anthropological Students Association (NSASA), Unical Chapter, a body passionate about promoting the study and understanding of sociology and anthropology, on Friday, paid a courtesy call to the honourable Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Cross River State, Mrs Helen Isamoh-Egodo in her office. 

The purpose of the visit was to present the new executive committee of the association to the honourable commissioner and to specially recognize her for her outstanding contributions to society.

Speaking, the president of the Association, Comrade Oko Emmanuel disclosed that, as part of their activities to enhance practical knowledge in the field, the association arranges visits to relevant institutions and organizes meetings with professionals who have made significant contributions in society and that the commissioner has been widely acknowledged for her dedication to improving the lives of the vulnerable population and promoting sustainable humanitarian practices in Cross River State.

Oko expressed his admiration for Dr. Egodo's achievements and highlighted the importance of her work in addressing the needs of marginalized communities. He commended her for her tireless efforts in promoting inclusivity, social justice, and human rights within the state.

Furthermore, the students association took the opportunity to present Dr. Egodo with an award in recognition of her exceptional contributions to the field, calling her a worthy ambassador of the association. The award, according to the President, symbolises the appreciation and respect that the NSASA, Unical Chapter holds for her and serves as an acknowledgment of her significant achievements.


In her response, the Honourable Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Cross River State, Dr. Helen Isamoh-Egodo expressed gratitude for the visit and the honor bestowed upon her by the NSASA, Unical Chapter. She praised the students for their enthusiasm and commitment to learning about sociology and anthropology, recognizing the importance of the disciplines in addressing social issues and achieving sustainable development goals.


Dr. Egodo urged the students to be committed to the association, emphasising the value of practical experience in understanding the complexities of human behavior and social systems. She emphasized the need for young scholars and professionals to actively contribute to the advancement of societal well-being. She urged the students to commit more time and effort to their academic pursuits, in addition to engaging in unionism, maintaining that a combination of both have great prospects of shaping their future. She affirmed that their little efforts will yield great results in future, explaining that her little efforts then as the Vice President of the Cross River State Post Graduate Students Association contributed significantly to her present opportunities. She expressed her joy in the election of a female as president, commending the former executive for their efforts in ensuring it.
