Job Hazard: Man Gets 30 Million Naira Compensation After Reps Intervention

...As Chairman, House Committee on Public Petition Pledges Continuous Fight For The Rights Of Workers In The Country

"Dear constituents and fellow Nigerians,

I'm delighted to share a significant development in our pursuit of justice and safety for all. After 15 years of resilience, Tairu Quadri, a victim of a tragic job hazard, has received a well-deserved compensation of 30 million naira.

As the Chairman of the House Committee on Public Petitions, I'm proud to have complemented the efforts of Rt. Hon. Wale Raji, member representing Ekpe Federal Constituency and other honourable members in securing this compensation for Mr. Quadri.

His story is a stark reminder of the potential dangers that lurk in the workplace, especially in critical sectors like the electrical industry. Mr. Quadri, a former Electrical Engineering student, suffered a life-altering accident during an internship with the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria in 2008. The breach in communication led to electrocution, costing him his arms and putting a halt to his academic and professional journey.

Our intervention has not only brought financial relief to Mr. Quadri but also underscores our commitment to supporting individuals facing disabilities due to job hazards. This victory is a testament to the power of collective advocacy and the impact we can make when we stand together for justice.

Let us continue working towards a safer and more secure working environment for everyone. At the level of the House Committee on Public petitions, we pledge to continue to support and uplift those who face injustices, ensuring that no one is left behind in their pursuit of a fair and safe working environment.

Thank you,

Rt. Hon. Mike Etaba

Member Representing Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency

And chairman,

House Committee on Public Petitions
