The deplorable condition of roads in Bahumono areas in Abi Local Government Area of Cross River State has become a major setback for the development of the area, comprising several Communities. The poor roads have hindered economic growth, limited access to essential services, and affected the overall quality of life for residents.

The roads, which are riddled with potholes and erosion, make it difficult for vehicles to ply, causing untold hardship to commuters and motorists. The situation is further compounded by the absence of drainage systems, leading to flooding and erosion during the rainy season.

The poor road network has far-reaching consequences, including, discouraging  businesses and investors from setting up operations in the area, thereby stifling economic growth.

Worse is that residents especially from usumutong, ebom, afafayi abeaugo, igoni igoni, ebijakara face challenges accessing healthcare services due to the difficulty in transporting patients to hospitals, thereby leading to avoidable deaths in the area.

Furthermore, farmers struggle to transport their farm produce to markets, resulting in reduced agricultural productivity and economic losses.

In conclusion, the poor roads pose a significant risk to motorists and commuters, leading to accidents and fatalities and cutting off the area from the rest of the world, limiting social interaction and cultural exchange.

The people of Bahumono areas in Abi Local Government Area are calling on the relevant authorities to take immediate action to address the poor road conditions. They urge the government to:

To constructs existing roads_provide drainage systems and promote economic development initiatives thereby unlocking the potential for community development in Bahumono areas and improve the lives of residents.
