​Real Madrid Wins 2025 Ikom Football Tournament, Commends Odey Ndoma Foundations For The Initiative

​Real Madrid Evolution has emerged champions of the 2025 edition of the Ikom Football Initiative, held on Saturday, September 28, at the Ikom Township Stadium.

The competition, which featured 17 teams from Ikom, Boki and Etung Local Government Areas, solidified its status as a premier grassroots event in Cross River State, and emphasized the volume of talents in the state. 

​The keenly contested final saw Real Madrid Evolution edge past Allstars FC in a tense penalty shootout after both sides failed to break the deadlock during regulation time. Allstars FC converted three of their four attempts but failed at a crucial moment, while the champions converted their all four spot-kicks to seal a thrilling victory, claiming the N500,000 first-place prize. Allstars FC received N200,000 as the runners-up, while Yala Nkum FC secured the third-place prize of N150,000. Prizes were also awarded for individual achievements, including Best Player and Best Goalkeeper, among others, promoting excellence across the board.

​The triumph sparked jubilations from players and fans of the winning team who lifted the trophy before a cheering crowd. The team captain, in his remarks, dedicated the win to their fans and lauded the tournament organizers for providing them the platform.

​“We are very happy to be crowned champions of this year’s tournament. It was not an easy journey, but teamwork, dedication, and the support of our fans carried us through. We sincerely appreciate the Odey Ndoma Foundation for making this platform possible. This victory is for our supporters and the people of Ikom,” the captain stated.

​Speaking after the final, Tax Expert and Director General of the Odey Ndoma Foundation, Elder Dr. Ndoma Odey, congratulated the champions and praised all participating teams for their maturity and cooperations in the course of the tournament. 

​“This initiative is more than football; it is about youth empowerment, unity, and creating opportunities for the next generation. I am proud of the talent, discipline, and passion displayed throughout this competition,” Elder Dr. Odey affirmed, promising the continued support of the foundation in driving in grassroots development.

​The Ikom Football Initiative, organized annually by the Odey Ndoma Foundation, has grown into one of the most competitive grassroots football events in Cross River State. Beyond the excitement on the pitch, it continues to promote sportsmanship, youth development, and community engagement across the participating local governments.

​With Real Madrid Evolution crowned as the 2025 champions, and with the participation of 17 teams from Ikom, Boki, and Etung, expectations are already building for next year’s edition, which promises to be even bigger.
