NOLLYWOOD WILL BE NUMBER ONE IN THE WORLD: BUKOLA SARAKI

The President of the Senate and Chairman of the National Assembly Bukola Saraki has assured movie practitioners of the government's support to make it number one film industry in the world. Dr.  Saraki said said this when a delegation of the Actors Guild of Nigeria paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja led by the National President Eneka Rollas. The PDP chieftain assured Nollywood of total support. In his words, he said:

“Let me thank the president for bringing us together. You have made a lot of us very proud. You have worked hard to support our government. You have shown truly that we have great capacity. Anywhere else in the world being surrounded by the stars I am seeing here, any politician would not let the opportunity slip away. Because we don’t recognize your talent and the kind of people we have, I would like to change that not because of you but because the country needs it. This is a decent industry. The economy will not grow by chance. But, it's my belief that if duly supported.
Nollywood will not only be number one in the world but will create job opportunities, increase the country's GDP and reduce poverty, among several other advantages. Hollywood is great today because the American government supported and funded the industry. Same can be possible for Nollywood."

The meeting had in attendance veteran actors and members of the board of trustees of the Actors guild of Nigeria. Among whom are: Zack Orji, former President, Segun Arinze former president, Ejike Asuegbu former President, Chief Chiwetalu Agu, Zik Zulu, Lilian Bash, etc.

According to sources, the aim of the meeting was to sort partnership with the government, with regards to the welfare of actors in the country and to seek support for the AGN foundation.
