 Obubra Council Boss, Dr Bassey Tom Meets With Leaders OF Ofumbongha No.1, Settles The Crisis In The  Community

The case of a house divided against itself recently characterised the people of Ofumbongha No1 in Ofumbongha/Yala Ward of Obubra LGA, Cross River State as Ogana and Odun Communities all in Ofumbingha 1 got embroiled in a fierce hostility against themselves due to a flimsy reason of land dispute. The story has it that the Community has been in  crisis arising from the ownership of land between Ogana and Odun and to a point, the people started becoming belligerent against themselves.

In the wake of the crisis, the Chairman of Council, Hon Dr Bassey Agara Tom swiftly intervened and summoned the Chiefs, Women leaders and the Youth leaders to a meeting with him at the Council Hall. Dr Bassey Tom in the meeting yesterday September 2nd, 2020 scolded the both sides for conceiving such a heinous and odious idea of engaging themselves in such an acrimonious attack in the same Community. The Chairman reiterated his commitment to run a peaceful government and lead a peaceful people throughout his administration. He underscored the danger of belligerency and pugnacious propensity in any part of Obubra, adding that he will not hesitate to turn his back against any Community that is warmongering. He charged the Chiefs to rise up to their responsibility as the custodian of the tradition of the people, in order to maintain peace and tranquility in their Communities, adding that he rushed into the matter to avoid further degeneracy.

The Chiefs and other leaders of the Community expressed delight over the Chairman's swiftness in intervening into the matter, and promised him that they were ready to settle the land dispute once and for all. The Chairman has ordered that the land in question should not be touched by anybody, until the final resolution is reached.
