Bye Election: Youth Council Condemns Killings During Senatorial Primaries In Cross River, Calls For Investigation And Prosecution of perpetrators

Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Cross River State chapter, His Youthfulness, Comr. Dan Obo has condemned the violence that engulfed the just concluded Cross River North PDP Primaries Election held on the 5th of September in Ogoja leading to the deaths of two promising youths and several others sustaining various degrees of gunshot inflicted injuries.
In a statement captioned " NYCN CONDEMNS THE UNFORTUNATE KILLING OF YOUTHS OVER POLITICAL POWER TUSSLE IN NORTHERN CROSS RIVER STATE dated 6th September 2020, signed by the Chief Press Secretary, Comr Desmond Cruz on behalf of the state chairman and made available to the press, Comr. Dan Obo who reiterated the words of Former President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan that "NO POLITICAL AMBITION IS WORTH THE BLOOD OF ANY CROSS RIVERIAN" called on security agencies, Human Right Crusaders, and all relevant authorities to investigate and prosecute the perpetrators of the heinous crime.
"Following the unfortunate and heartbreaking incident that took place in the Northern Senatorial District of the state, wherein at least, two ebullient and promising youths lost their budding lives and others sustained various degrees of gunshot inflicted injuries, the National Youth Council of Nigeria hereby condemn in totality the unwarranted, unprovoked, unspeakable and animalistic killing of our youths during the PDP Primaries election in Ogoja. We are terribly pained by this gruesome lost.
.. We hereby call on security agencies, Human Right Crusaders, and all relevant authorities to investigate and prosecute the perpetrators of this heinous crime."
The chairman also cautioned the youths against allowing themselves to be used as thugs and touts by Politicians during elections as such is not only inimical but deleterious to their life and that of their loved one. He maintained that oftentimes, the deceased leave behind aged parents, young wives and children, who suffer severely afterwards. He therefore called on Youths at all levels to desist from all political involvements that expose them to bickering, infighting and death.
"We sorrowfully convey our deepest condolence to the families of the deceased even as we pray for the peaceful repose of the souls of the departed and the quick recuperation of the wounded ones. At this moment of grief, we stand in Solidarity with the bereaved as Injury to one Is Injury to All"
