Egodo Commits To Eradication of Gender-Based Violence



The Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Mrs Helen Isamoh- Egodo, her counterpart in the Ministry of Women Affairs and other notable women of Cross River State took part in the just concluded 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. The campaign, aims to raise awareness about the prevalence of violence against women and girls and calls for actions to end abuse.


Dr. Egodo has a strong background in gender empowerment and development. Prior to her current position as commissioner, she served as the Special Adviser on Gender Development to the former governor of Cross River State, Senator Professor Ben Ayade and later as Zonal Women Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for the Southern Senatorial District in 2022. During these times, she led several initiatives to promote gender emancipation and development in the state.


Her dedication and contributions to gender issues in the state has earned her many recognitions and awards and she is using her privileged office as commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, to advance her commitment to gender equality, inclusivity and total eradication of gender-based violence.
