House Of Reps Launches Inquiry Into Apiapum Road Construction Delay, Summons NDDC, Iwari Global Energy Limited For Explanations

The House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions has commenced its investigation into the delayed construction of Apiapum Road in Obubra Local Government Area of Cross River State.

The committee led by the Rt. Hon. Mike Etaba, the member Representing Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency held its first hearing on Thursday, 8th February, 2024, following a petition filed by Etaba Agbor Esq. against the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and Iwari Global Energy Limited.

Rt. Hon. Etaba expressed the committee's readiness to provide a fair platform for grievances to be addressed. Due to the fact that the respondents, NDDC and Iwari Global Energy Limited, were notably absent during the proceedings, the lawmaker adjourned the hearing to 27th February, 2024, urging the absent respondents to appear and explain the reasons behind the stalled project. The committee reaffirmed its commitment to promoting equity, fairness, and justice through the Public Petitions process.
