Etaba Moves To End Communal And Cult Clashes In Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency
The Chairman of the House Committee on Public Petitions, Rt. Hon. Mike Etaba, has intensified efforts to end communal and cult conflicts in Obubra/Etung, urging communities and groups to embrace peace and dialogue as well as unite for the development and progress of the federal constituency.
The lawmaker made this call on Saturday, 30th March, 2024 during his visit to some of the warring communities in Obubra Local Government Area, leveraging on the prospect to engage traditional rulers, women, youths, clergy, security agencies and other stakeholders and rallying them to support his peace and development agenda.
In his address, Etaba swiftly condemned the incessant communal clashes littered all over the constituency, imploring all parties involved to lay down their arms and seek a peaceful resolution. He lamented the loss of lives and destruction of properties occasioned by the ceaseless wars, remarking that they have contributed significantly to the underdevelopment of the constituency.
Apart from inspecting the vandalized buildings of the acting paramount ruler and other chiefs in Imabana Ochokwu, and the vandalized buildings in other communities affected by wars, the lawmaker also visited and condoled with the family of Mr. Egba Eborty Francis, his Liaison officer for Ofodua ward whose wife lost her father and some of his extended family members that lost their father. The lawmaker also graced the marriage ceremony of his sister-in-law, Precious and husband, Charles in Ovonum, demonstrating his commitment to promoting healthy relationships.
